Elaine and Helen have been making cakes for our family from the time of ‘The Cakery’s, existence, they are the only place I can get ‘lactose free’ and it is so delicious.  They have done everything for us from every day cakes to my 21st birthday cake.

FAQs

Are you a shop?

No, we are a residentail house on a residential street. Due to this, we only take visits regarding cakes by appointment only. Please don't show up unannounced, you will be turned away.

Do you have cakes for sale?

No, we make bespoke cakes to order. We do not have premade cakes for sale. It is important to us that your receive the best product for your money, because of this we only make cakes to order to ensure maximum quality and freshness.

Can I come an talk to you face-to-face about my cake?

If you are looking to order a wedding cake, then by all means. However, we no longer do face-to-face consultations on other celebration cakes as we no longer have the time to spare. We are very busy and face-to-face consultations are time consuming. We are more than happy to discuss your cake requirements via email though and that way we have all information about your cake in writing.

Do you do gluten, lactose/dairy and nut free cakes?

We pride ourselves on our gluten free and lactose/dairy free cakes. They are indistinguishable from our regular cakes. We take every precaution when baking allergen-free cakes, washing down the kitchen and all equipement prior to making them, however, we do still work in a kitchen where gluten, dairy and nuts are used so if you are anaphylatic, then we would suggest seeking out alternative food-allergy specific baker.

Do you make eggless cakes?

No.

Do you deliver?

As a general rule we require customers to collect their cakes as delivering has proven to be costly and time consuming. In certain circumstances we can deliver, although it may incur an extra cost. We offer free delivery and set up of wedding cakes as standard, however, delivery to venues outside of Northampton will incur a per mile delivery cost.

How should I transport my cake?

You don't realise how bad the roads are until you have to transport a cake. As stressful as it is, there are a few things that can be done to ensure your cake arrives as it should. It is best for the cake to be on a flat surface, so travelling with it in the footwell of the car or the boot are best. Please don't put your cake on a seat, seats are slanted which puts pressure on the cake and its decorations. Also, please turn off any heating in the car during transportation.

How do I handle and store my cake?

When carrying your cake, hold it as flat as possible in both hands from the bottom, without pushing against the sides or top of the box. Store your cake in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Once cut, we recommend keeping the cake in the box in which it came. Storing your cake in a plastic cake box or in the wrong conditions can shorten its shelf life.
